High Conversion Rates with Long Tail Optimization

Long tail optimization puts accent on specific phrases that are less competitive but potentially high. A long tail phrase is a multi-word string of common terms. Though it is searched less, it can lead to high conversion rates. Long tail phrases can get easily ranked to fetch quality web traffic.

Keyword research is an integral part of a long tail optimization campaign as in other SEO campaigns. Conduct a Google search on your product or service and follow the search results to check the keywords featured by the top ten sites in the first search result page. You can use the search-based keyword tool of Google for the sake of keyword research and analysis. This particular Google keyword tool runs an analysis on the website content and matches the content with the search phrases usually used by the visitors in Google. It provides a list of relevant and potential keywords.

Pick up the most relevant of the keywords from the list and use them for long tail optimization. Build new sites, create categories and name pages with the long tail phrases in mind. Customize each page of the site with a unique title, a descriptive Meta tags, optimized header tags and keyword based anchor text in the content.

Many website owners depend on highly competitive and popular terms and do not take a look at less competitive phrases. Researching and targeting the less competitive but specific terms is a better approach for long tail optimization. They pack in punch to get you high conversion rates. And, take note that long phrases do not mean long tails.
